Shafi stated that she will be able to take care of herself through her work, having gone through a difficult time and now moving forward on the path of healing.
According to Shafi, she is still strong and will focus on her health and wellness, while considering her act of standing up for herself a victory. Zafar had claimed 100 million rupees in damages against Shafi, who in turn accused Zafar of harassment. It is worth mentioning that both Shafi and Zafar are prominent figures in Pakistan’s music industry, who were not only close friends but also worked together in the past. However, eight years ago, Shafi shocked everyone by accusing Zafar of harassment, stating that he had inappropriately touched her and that she was bringing this to light in the context of the #MeToo movement. Since then, both artists have been engaged in a legal battle. Shafi accused Zafar of harassment, while Zafar filed a defamation case against her. After several hearings, the court ruled in Zafar’s favor and ordered Shafi to pay 50 million rupees in damages.
