A devastating fire broke out at the ICU of the State-run SCB Medical College and Hospital in Odisha, India, resulting in the deaths of at least 10 patients and injuring over 11 medical staff members. According to Indian media reports, the blaze occurred between 2:30 am and 3:00 am yesterday when patients were in an extremely critical condition. Upon receiving the information, multiple fire brigade vehicles rushed to the scene, and a rescue operation was initiated. Odisha’s Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, said during a press conference that the medical staff got injured while transferring patients to safe locations, with a total of 23 patients being shifted to other departments of the hospital. The Chief Minister added that 7 patients died during the transfer process, while another 3 patients succumbed to their injuries after being shifted to wards.
