Bangalore, India – A deputy manager at a bank in the Indian city of Bangalore has been arrested on charges of swindling customers out of their gold. According to local media reports, the accused had accumulated 2,780 grams of gold, valued at approximately 3.5 crore Indian rupees, without the customers’ consent by removing it from bank lockers and storing it at a finance company.
The incident came to light on February 5 when the bank’s chief manager filed a police complaint. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had used the funds to bet online. So far, around 700 grams of gold has been recovered from the accused, while efforts are underway to recover the remaining gold.
The bank officials have stated that they are facing difficulties in obtaining cooperation from finance companies, prompting them to seek legal action.
