HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Brrr! It’s a little chilly outside! Temperatures are bottoming out in the 40s under a mainly clear sky. An abundance of sunshine will warm temperatures up to near 60 degrees in the afternoon, and it won’t be nearly as windy as it as was on Tuesday. High clouds will stream in late in the day, and they will continue to increase overnight as a gentle rainmaker moves in on Thanksgiving Day.
When could it rain on Thanksgiving?
The disturbance blowing in on Thanksgiving Day will first send widespread clouds overhead for the morning, with a few light showers possible southwest of Houston during the first half of the day. Scattered light rain showers will reach Houston primarily during the afternoon hours. Because the rain will be falling through dry air, much of it will evaporate before reaching the ground. This has a cooling effect on the atmosphere and will keep temperatures trapped in the 50s all afternoon. Your chance of getting measurable rain is at 40%, and total accumulations will only measure a few hundredths of an inch.
Will there be more rain after Thanksgiving into the weekend?
All of Friday and most all of Saturday now look to be dry! So you shouldn’t have to plan around any rainy weather if you’re hitting the shopping malls after Thanksgiving Day. Until Sunday, that is. The next weather disturbance will actually kick rain chances up to 60% Saturday night with a 40% chance of shower lingering past sunrise Sunday.
