HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — It’s looking more and more like we’re in for a cool, rainy end to the week after a front arrives Thursday night. In fact, after the front rolls in, we could go up to 5 days without any appreciable sunshine, so soak up as much sun as you can on Wednesday and Thursday.
Wednesday starts off mild with lows in the mid 60s and another round of patchy dense fog scattered about Southeast Texas. Like Tuesday, temperatures will soar to near record territory in the afternoon and top out in the upper 80s. Factor in the humidity, and it could feel like the low 90s.
When is our next chance for rain?
Our next cold front will arrive Thursday night through Friday morning, so our rain chances are at 30% starting Thursday evening, 70% overnight, then 80% during the daylight hours of Friday.
Are we expecting any heavy rain, flooding, or severe weather?
Severe weather looks unlikely at this time, but heavy rain could bring some isolated pockets of street flooding.
How does the weather look for the weekend?
It looks like it could be nearly the exact opposite of this past weekend filled with warm, dry weather. Instead, Veterans Day weekend will likely be overcast and cool with lows in the 50s and highs in the 60s. More importantly to your weekend plans, it could be wet both days. We now have a 40% chance of showers on Saturday and a 30% chance on Sunday. Stay tuned as we refine these numbers in the days ahead.
How many inches of rain could we get?
Now through Tuesday we could pick up rain totals averaging 1-2″ north of I-10 and 2-4″ south of I-10. The rain will likely be heavier in our coastal counties due to the front stalling just offshore. Deeper moisture will be present near the front leading to heavier rain and higher accumulations.
So how long could clouds block out the sun?
The sky will start to cloud over on Thursday, and then it is likely to stay overcast Friday through at least Monday and possibly until next Wednesday.
