HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — 80 degree afternoons will continue this week through Thursday before a cold front swings through and brings rain, cooler temperatures by week’s end. Also, If you didn’t do so last night, make sure to set those clocks back an hour!
We’ll keep some cloud cover overnight as temperatures fall into the low 60s by Monday morning. A few areas of fog could develop once again around sunrise but shouldn’t be too much of an impact. Temperatures will then rise into the low-mid 80s under a partly to mostly cloudy sky.
How does the weather look for Election Day?
It should be rain-free but very warm and humid. High temperatures will soar into the mid 80s after morning lows start in the upper 60s.
When is our next chance for rain?
Our next cold front will arrive Thursday night through Friday morning, so our rain chances are at 40% Thursday, 60% overnight, then 40% again during the day on Friday.
Are we expecting any heavy rain, flooding, or severe weather?
It’s a little too far out to pin down the details at this time as those factors depend on the timing and strength of the front as it moves through. That being said, I would anticipate wet roads if you’re going to be out late Thursday evening and again for the Friday morning commute. We’ll work on fine tuning the potential for flooding or severe storms as the week continues.
What is happening in the tropics?
For the first time in weeks, the Atlantic is quiet with no tropical development expected over the next 48 hours. It is November after all, even though hurricane season lasts until the end of the month. For our latest tropical update, head to our Tropical Update page.
