Karachi, Pakistan β In a powerful gesture blending culture and diplomacy, Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, presented the traditional Sindhi shawl, the ‘Ajrak,’ as a gift to the Palestinian Ambassador, Zouhair Muhammad, during the closing ceremony of a Cultural Festival in Karachi. This move is viewed as an affirmation of Pakistanβs deep cultural and moral solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
During the culmination of the vibrant festival, organized by the Arts Council of Karachi, the Chief Minister extended this cultural exchange beyond Palestine. He also presented the Ajrak to the Ambassadors of the Philippines and Morocco, along with the Consul Generals of Germany, Sri Lanka, Japan, the UAE, and the British High Commissioner, celebrating strong international ties.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the international artists and delegates who participated in the platform for cultural promotion. “I am thankful for the visit of international artists to Pakistan. The Arts Council Karachi has organized a magnificent festival,” he stated.
The Chief Minister highlighted the significant international participation, noting that representatives from over 140 countries attended the festival, underscoring the global recognition of Sindhi culture. He praised the efforts of the Sindh Culture Minister, emphasizing that “Culture is our identity, and we must be proud of it.” This festival served as a crucial step in promoting the nation’s soft power and cultural diplomacy.
