New revelations have come to light in the case of Zubeen Garg, a renowned singer and musician from the Indian state of Assam, whose death was previously reported to have occurred due to a scuba diving accident. However, according to fresh details, the music maestro’s demise was actually a result of a swimming incident near Lazarus Island in Singapore.
Assistant Superintendent David Lim of the Police Coast Guard, who was one of the 35 witnesses in the coroner’s inquiry, provided a statement regarding the circumstances surrounding Garg’s death. The incident occurred on September 19 last year in Singapore. In a court hearing on Wednesday, Singapore authorities informed the judge that Garg was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
Multiple witnesses testified that they saw Garg attempting to swim back to the boat, after which he became unconscious and began floating face down in the water. Despite being rescued immediately, Garg was eventually pronounced dead. The authorities revealed that Garg had a history of high blood pressure and heart issues, and had suffered a similar episode in 2024.
Singapore Police confirmed that there was no foul play or crime involved in Garg’s death. The Assam government had also conducted an inquiry into the incident and submitted its report to the authorities, which pointed towards a conspiracy and arrested seven individuals.
