Hollywood actress Zoe Saldana has achieved a significant milestone in her career, surpassing the likes of Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr. in terms of box office records. Her films have collectively earned over $15 billion, making her one of the highest-grossing actresses in Hollywood history. Saldana’s five films have each grossed over $1 billion at the box office, a feat achieved by only a few big-name stars. The success of her latest film, Avatar: The Way of Water, has not only solidified her position as one of the highest-grossing actresses but also made her the undisputed box office queen globally.
Saldana’s achievement has pushed her ahead of Scarlett Johansson, who previously held the record with a gross of $15.4 billion. The 37-year-old American actress has now become the highest-grossing actress in cinematic history, surpassing Johansson, who held the title since the success of her film, The New World, last year. Saldana has worked on both Avatar and The Avengers franchises, cementing her status as a leading lady in Hollywood.
Interestingly, Saldana has now appeared in four of the top-seven highest-grossing films of all time, with three of them being from the Avatar franchise, which has collectively earned over $6.6 billion. Her Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films have also grossed over $7.5 billion, making her a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry. Saldana has also starred in the Star Trek franchise and is set to appear in Avengers: The Domes Day later this year, with a possibility of adding to her earnings. Additionally, she is expected to work on the remaining two Avatar films.
Saldana’s achievement is all the more remarkable considering that she has surpassed the likes of Clark Gable and John Wayne, who held the top spot among the highest-grossing actors in the 1960s. The record was later taken over by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone in the 1990s.
