HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A former postal worker faces up to five years in prison after admitting to stealing mail while on the job, according to U.S. Attorney Alamandar S. Hamdani.
Laura Aguirre, who was responsible for processing mail from January 1, 2023, to February 6, 2023, reportedly opened and stole mail, taking cash and gift cards totaling $2,500.
Following an investigation, Aguirre was terminated from her position and charged with mail theft. Her plea deal has been accepted, and she is scheduled for sentencing on November 1.
Aguirre has been allowed to remain out on bond until her sentencing.
