HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A Houston woman has been charged after she left a child and a dog in a hot vehicle with the temperature outside in the triple digits, court records from the Harris County District Clerk show.
Kiandria Ahmad, 31, is charged with endangering a child and cruelty to non-livestock animals, according to records.
Ahmad is accused of leaving the child and the animal in the vehicle with the engine turned off, and windows closed in 100-degree weather.
On July 11, Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Deputies responded to multiple calls of a 2-year-old child and puppy locked inside a car at 12655 Kuykendahl Road. By the time deputies arrived at the scene, the owner of the vehicle, identified as Ahmad, had returned.
Deputies said they checked on the 2-year-old, who was then rushed to a hospital after she was found shaking, red in the face sweating heavily, and looked dehydrated. Her condition is unknown
The puppy was in good condition and given to a good Samaritan at the scene, according to authorities.
Ahmad, who was identified as the child’s godmother, was arrested Monday evening.
Ahmad is due in probable cause court on Wednesday morning.
