Around 3,000 Acres Burned in Pacific Palisades, Numerous Buildings Destroyed
A wildfire in the Los Angeles coastal area has led to the evacuation of over 30,000 people from their homes. Meanwhile, another fire spread 30 miles inland.
The Pacific Palisades area has seen nearly 3,000 acres of land scorched, damaging several buildings. This area is home to many celebrities from the film and music industries.
Emergency Situation and Relief Efforts
California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency and ordered all available state resources to combat the fire. Local residents reported that the fire reached their homes, forcing many to abandon their vehicles and flee.
Several people have been injured, including a female firefighter. Hollywood actor James Woods, who evacuated his Pacific Palisades residence, said that they are still uncertain if their house is safe.
Spread of Additional Fires
On the other hand, the Eaton Fire near Pasadena grew from 200 acres to 1,000 acres. Approximately 100 elderly residents have been evacuated.
Extra flight forces and emergency vehicles are providing assistance, and bulldozers are being used to clear debris.
Natural Conditions and Future Forecasts
The National Weather Service had predicted the exceptional fire conditions, attributing the fire spread to low humidity and dry vegetation.
Governor Newsom also mentioned that the federal government is available for state aid, with President Joe Biden offering federal assistance to tackle the fires.
