“Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, stars of the Best Picture-nominated hit film, are scheduled to perform at the Academy Awards this Sunday, according to an official announcement. Doja Cat, Lisa from Blackpink, Queen Latifah, and Grammy-nominated artist Raye will also be performing.
Differing from past ceremonies where Best Song nominees performed, this year’s live performances will “honor the filmmaking community and its iconic figures,” as stated in the announcement.
The Academy has not disclosed the specific songs to be performed.
The event will also include a special performance by the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
Erivo and Grande are the only Oscar nominees among the performers. They are nominated for Lead Actress and Supporting Actress, respectively, for their roles in “Wicked.”
If Erivo wins an Oscar this Sunday, she will achieve EGOT status, joining an exclusive group of fewer than 30 artists who have won Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards.
“Wicked” received 10 Oscar nominations this year, including Best Picture, Original Score, and several technical category nominations.
Comedian Conan O’Brien will host the event for the first time. It will be broadcast on ABC this Sunday at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.”
