Wicked” is considered a highly successful stage production, but upon its adaptation for the cinematic screen, the creators introduced several modifications in its follow-up.
In an interview with GQ, Jonathan Bailey, portraying Fiyero, disclosed these changes in the upcoming sequel. “There really is lots of new stuff,” he shared with GQ.
He elaborated, “When [Fiyero] leaves with Elphaba and they go to her lair where she’s staying – on stage you just accept that she’s living in a pit of dry ice, but in the film it’s really beautifully realised and thought out by the departments and Cynthia and me.”
Concurrently, the trailer for “Wicked: For Good” has been released, featuring Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, and Marissa Bode reprising their roles.
It is pertinent to mention that the play, which serves as the film’s foundation, was derived from Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, titled “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.”
