White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed President Donald Trump’s recent remarks concerning Taylor Swift on Monday.
During a briefing, a reporter inquired, “What does President Trump mean when he says that Taylor Swift is no longer hot?”
The question prompted laughter from both reporters and the press secretary before she responded, “Look, he is speaking about Taylor Swift’s political views and how perhaps it has impacted the support of the American public for her work, and I will leave it at that.”
Last week, Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, “Has anyone noticed that since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.”
The president’s dispute with the singer traces back to last year’s White House race.
Trump initially expressed his “hatred” for Swift on social media last September, following the 35-year-old performer’s endorsement of then-Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential election.
Swift has been critical of Trump in the past, stating in a 2019 interview that he was “gaslighting the American public.”
“We’re a democracy — at least, we’re supposed to be — where you’re allowed to disagree, dissent, debate. I really think that he thinks this is an autocracy,” Swift said at the time.
