WhatsApp is preparing to solve a major problem for users who are often frustrated by full phone storage. The Meta-owned app is introducing a new shortcut that will make managing storage easier than ever.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, this new feature will save users from digging through the complex Settings menu. Instead, they will be able to monitor which files are taking up the most space and delete unnecessary content directly from within the chat window.
This new shortcut will help users identify and clean up the most recent files that are occupying their WhatsApp storage. The feature is currently available to a few select users in the latest beta version for Android. However, the company plans to roll it out to all users soon.
This update will allow users to see a summary of all files shared across their chats, organized from largest to smallest. This will make it easy to identify large and unneeded files. Users will also have the option to delete multiple files at once, while important media can be “starred” or “pinned” to protect them from being accidentally deleted.
