The popular instant messaging service WhatsApp has finally started testing a dedicated app version for the Apple Watch, addressing a long-standing request from users.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, this new app will provide several key features directly on the user’s wrist. Apple Watch users will be able to view their chat list, see messages and media, and send new messages without having to wait for a notification.
Additionally, the app supports sending emoji reactions, recording and sending audio messages, and dictating replies using voice input.
However, the report highlights one major limitation: the app is not standalone. To use it, the Apple Watch must be connected to the user’s iPhone where WhatsApp is installed.
Users interested in trying this feature can access it by installing the WhatsApp beta for iOS, version 25.32.10.71.
