Joseph Kosinski, the acclaimed director behind ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and Brad Pitt’s ‘F-1,’ has offered a glimpse into what fans can anticipate from ‘Top Gun 3.’
While currently engaged in interviews to promote his latest film, ‘F-1,’ ‘GQ’ managed to glean some insights into his plans for the third installment of the ‘Top Gun’ franchise.
“I think we’ve found a way to do it, not only in the scale of what we’re proposing, but the idea itself of the story we’re telling,” Kosinski stated.
Referencing Tom Cruise’s character, Maverick, the director further elaborated, “There’s still more story to tell for him. There’s one last ride. So we’re working on it now.”
He added, “It’s an existential question that Maverick has to deal with, that would make Maverick feel small, I think, as a movie, compared to what we’re talking about.”
It’s worth noting that Joseph Kosinski directed both ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and ‘F-1.’ This isn’t his first collaboration with the ‘Mission: Impossible’ star, as he also helmed 2010’s ‘TRON: Legacy’ and ‘Oblivion,’ both of which featured Tom Cruise.
