West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite expressed optimism on Friday about leveling the series against Pakistan in the second Test, which is set to begin tomorrow at Multan Cricket Stadium.
Addressing a press conference in Multan ahead of the second Test, Brathwaite discussed the pitch behavior in the first Test, saying, “The pitch was quite tough to bat on in the previous Test. Players need to have self-belief.”
“Every batter has a different nature. We are looking forward to adjusting our gameplay according to the conditions,” said Brathwaite.
Speaking about Pakistan’s approach to playing in home conditions, he said, “Pakistan is utilizing the opportunity of playing in home conditions by preparing a spin-friendly wicket, which is good for them.”
Brathwaite acknowledged the bowling brilliance of West Indies spinner Jomel Warrican, saying, “Warrican bowled brilliantly in the first Test. Hopefully, he will perform well in the second Test as well.”
“We have an idea that the pitch in the second Test will behave in the same way as it did in the first Test,” he said.
Brathwaite mentioned that the players had practiced playing against spinners during their practice sessions.
He also announced the inclusion of West Indies senior bowler Kemar Roach in the playing XI for the second Test.
