HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Drought conditions continue to build over Southeast Texas, but there is a small chance some of you will get a brief shower Friday afternoon.
An upper air disturbance moving in from Mexico will build the cloud cover through the night. This disturbance will be good enough for a 20% chance of a brief, light shower Friday afternoon, especially south of I-10. If you do get rain it’ll likely be only a few hundredths of an inch.
A weak cool front will also blow in Friday, but you’ll hardly feel a difference. It will keep the dry air in place through the weekend and keep the pleasant morning temps and comfortable afternoon humidity going for a few more days.
Ragweed pollen will remain extremely high, and we are also under another Ozone Pollution Watch for the afternoon.
What’s the forecast for the weekend?
The weekend looks very dry with plenty of sunshine. Morning lows will dip into the lower and middle 60s while highs still top out around 90. It will feel warm during the afternoon, but the relative humidity will continue to bottom out around 25%.
What are the chances we get some rain next week?
We have lowered rain chances next week in the 20%-30% range. We still expect another cool front to blow in on Thursday, but we’re unsure how much tropical moisture it will have to work with. This will hinge on what happens with the tropical system currently moving through the Caribbean.
What’s happening in the tropics?
Potential Storm 13 is likely to become Hurricane Julia before reaching Central America this weekend. There is a chance some of its tropical moisture could eventually get into the southwest Gulf of Mexico and head to Texas. For the very latest check out our daily tropical update.
