Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has issued a strong accusation against the United States, claiming it “wants to start a new war” in the region, and has vowed that he will not allow such a conflict to occur.
President Maduro’s sharp remarks came as a direct reaction to a recent U.S. statement regarding the deployment of an aircraft carrier to the Caribbean. Emphasizing his resolve, Maduro stated, “We will not let a war happen.”
This tension is not isolated to Venezuela. In neighboring Colombia, President Gustavo Petro has also shown strong defiance against U.S. pressure.
The United States recently imposed sanctions on the Colombian president, citing allegations of involvement in illicit drug activities. In a clear and determined response to these sanctions, President Petro declared, “I will not take a single step back and will never kneel.”
