HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Overnight we’ll keep a partly cloudy sky and the chance for a brief, passing showers as temperatures fall into the low 70s by Tuesday morning. Expect similar conditions for Tuesday and Wednesday with muggy mornings and very warm afternoons with highs in the mid-upper 80s.
Ragweed, elm tree, and grass pollens remain high, so keep that in mind if you have allergies to those pollens and plan to spend time outside.
When could we get more rain?
After a mostly dry Tuesday, scattered showers return Wednesday. The better chance for more widely scattered showers and a few storms return Thursday, as deep tropical moisture moves into the region.
Any early predications for Halloween?
Funny you should ask about the timing of the next potential strong cold front. It is expected to move through by the end of the month. This is still just over a week away, so the timing and potential impacts could still be anywhere from Oct. 29 through Oct. 31. This front does have the potential to be a stronger one, so scattered thunderstorms and a huge cool down are possible.
What is happening in the tropics?
We are now in that time of year when we have to pay closer attention to what’s happening in the Pacific since those storms can recurve into Mexico and send heavy rains to Texas. Currently, we are monitoring two systems in the Pacific that will send moisture into Texas this week. For the latest tropical update, head here: Tropical Update page.
