LOS ANGELES, UNITED STATES – Actor Walton Goggins has issued a thoughtful and candid response to comedian Pete Davidson’s prediction that Goggins would be the next actor to face a rapid decline in fan favour, a pattern Davidson linked to the volatile nature of modern fame.
Pete Davidson’s Analysis of Modern Fame
Appearing on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast, the Saturday Night Live alum discussed how fast public perception can shift for highly successful actors. He cited Pedro Pascal as a key example.
“Look at Pedro Pascal right now. Fu*king two years ago he’s a hardworking, great actor… everyone’s like, ‘Daddy, daddy!’” Davidson said. “And then a year later, he’s, like, in everything now ’cause he’s hot and big and everyone’s like, ‘Go the fu*k away, dude.’”
Davidson argued that actors who spend decades working before a sudden explosion need time to adjust to massive fame. He then named the 53-year-old Walton Goggins as the next star likely to endure this rapid “turn” from the public, stating, “It’s like, we build everybody up and now it’s so fast to turn. It’s within months.”
Goggins’ Acceptance: ‘It’s a Blessing’
Reacting to Davidson’s prediction, Walton Goggins took to his Instagram handle on Sunday, sharing a lengthy note in which he directly addressed the comedian.
“Pete we don’t know each other but I appreciate the heads up. We agree on one thing… Pedro Pascal isn’t a good man, He’s a great man,” Goggins began, noting Pascal is a “dear friend.”
Goggins reflected on his career with humility: “As a 53 yr old I’m acutely aware that every experience has a shelf life… How lucky am I that this is even a possibility?!!” He urged his followers to “continue scrolling” if they were tired of his updates, stressing that his promotional duties are to “honor all of those that worked so hard” on his projects.
Ultimately, Goggins embraced the prospect of his impending fate: “being included in this headline isn’t a curse it’s a blessing.… If saying yes in life more than saying no is a crime, then I’m guilty as charged. And If this headline is a possibility or an inevitability… if this is my fate… Well… Fk it. I’m going to enjoy the FK OUT OF IT.”
