Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez assumed the presidential duties following a court order, contradicting US President Donald Trump’s statement in a news conference. Rodriguez immediately demanded the release of Nicholas Maduro, stating that the Venezuelan president is the true leader, currently detained in the US. She said Venezuela would not become a colony of any country and vowed to defend the nation and its natural resources. Rodriguez also claimed that Maduro has been kidnapped by the US, urging the Venezuelan people to remain united and patient in defense of their nation.
The US envoy stated that the Venezuelan government would not compromise on measures to stop drug trafficking, asserting that the US should not be considered the supreme authority to intervene in any country. However, a public opinion survey conducted by a news agency revealed that only 33% of Americans support US military intervention in Venezuela.
The Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens Frederik Nielsen, stated that it’s impossible to compare Greenland with Venezuela, expressing hopes for improved relations with the US. The Liberal Democrats have called for a legal opinion on US intervention in Venezuela, warning that silence is equivalent to providing Trump with political protection. US Vice President Mike Pence expressed gratitude for the support of those who condemned the vandalism at his residence, as well as the cooperation of special agencies in the matter.
Iran’s Judicial Chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejhei, stated that those responsible for the unrest in Iran will face the consequences. Iran has demanded the immediate release of Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro. The wife of Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro, Cilia Flores, also denied the charges filed against her during her detention, claiming her innocence.
Following a US threat of another military invasion, Venezuela’s acting president Delcy Rodriguez has agreed to disarm and offered cooperation to the US. The UN Secretary-General expressed concern over the situation in Venezuela during a Security Council meeting.
