Vantage Data Centers, a digital infrastructure company, has secured a $1.6 billion investment to expand its operations in the Asia-Pacific region. The funding was led by affiliates of GIC and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), both of which are existing investors in Vantage. A significant portion of this capital will be used to acquire a hyperscale data center campus from Yondr Group in Johor, Malaysia.
The company stated that this investment highlights the increasing demand for digital infrastructure in the region, which is driven by the rapid growth of technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing. The acquisition of the Malaysian campus, which will add over 300 megawatts of IT capacity, will boost Vantage’s total capacity in Asia-Pacific to 1 gigawatt. The investment and acquisition are expected to be finalized in the fourth quarter.
