The administration of US President Donald Trump will petition a court to allow the release of grand jury testimony in the case of deceased convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. This move comes after some of Trump’s supporters reacted angrily to a report that found no evidence to support long-standing theories about Epstein’s case.
“Based on the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein, I have asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval. This SCAM, perpetuated by the Democrats, should end, right now!” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform.
Shortly after Trump’s statement, Bondi announced on X that the Justice Department was prepared to ask the court on Friday to unseal the grand jury transcripts. “President Trump – we are ready to move the court tomorrow to unseal the grand jury transcripts,” Bondi wrote.
Some of Trump’s supporters have raised questions about Epstein, the disgraced financier, following the Justice Department’s conclusion this month that there was no evidence to substantiate several long-held conspiracy theories regarding his clients and his 2019 death in prison.
Bondi had previously pledged months ago to reveal significant information about Epstein, including “a lot of names” and “a lot of flight logs.”
The demand for more information on Epstein from some Trump supporters has caused a rare division within his base. Trump, however, has dismissed the matter, labeling it a hoax.
Allegations of Epstein sexually abusing girls first surfaced publicly in 2006, leading to his arrest that year before he accepted a plea deal. Epstein died in jail in 2019 after his second arrest and charges of sex-trafficking conspiracy.
