The recent US-Pakistan joint exercise “Inspired Gambit” has further solidified the defense cooperation between the two nations. The US has described the joint exercise as a significant milestone in the defense ties between the two countries. According to the official Twitter account of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the joint exercise was conducted at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) Pabbi, where US and Pakistani forces completed their training during the exercise “Inspired Gambit”. The exercise focused on infantry skills, modern tactics, and counter-terrorism operations, further strengthening the mutual trust, coordination, and operational cooperation between the two forces.
The two-week exercise “Inspired Gambit 2026” was held from January 8 to 16, 2026, with a focus on counter-terrorism. The exercise is the 13th edition of the bilateral training series that has been ongoing since 1995, demonstrating the long-standing defense ties between the US and Pakistan.
In a separate development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, stating that they are equally affected by the losses. He also emphasized the need to provide better medical facilities to the injured.
In another incident, a fire broke out in a three-story building in Karachi, resulting in significant damage to the ground and mezzanine floors.
