The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for potential urban flooding in Islamabad and northern areas of Punjab. The warning comes as two more deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours due to ongoing monsoon rains and flooding.
According to the NDMA, there is a risk of urban flooding over the next two to six hours in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum. Heavy rainfall is expected in these regions because of a prevailing weather system. The authority has warned that intense rainfall could also trigger landslides in hilly areas. Additionally, weak infrastructure in the affected zones may be at risk of sustaining damage.
