LAHORE, PAKISTAN – A 21-year-old female student allegedly attempted to take her life by jumping from the second floor of a private university in Lahore. The student, identified as Fatiha, was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition. According to hospital sources, she sustained severe injuries, including a fractured spine and a broken pelvis.
In response to the incident, the university administration has formed an eight-member inquiry committee to investigate the matter. The committee, headed by Dean Faculty of Law, Retired Justice Muhammad Bilal Khan, comprises of Professors Mughis, Ahmad Bilal, Farukh Haq, Dr. Ayesha, Ali Aslam, Muhammad Amir, and Asma Han Ramzan. Muhammad Amir and Asma Han Ramzan are class fellows of the injured student.
This incident occurred just days after a student, Muhammad Awees, also jumped to his death from the same university. The committee will submit its report after conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
Eyewitnesses claim that the student jumped from the second floor, with mobile phone footage showing guards rushing her to the hospital. The university was immediately shut down, and students gathered outside, protesting against the university administration. Police and forensic teams arrived at the scene to collect evidence.
Several students also accused the university administration of negligence and misconduct. The Director General of the Information Section PR Security is scheduled to hold a press conference to address the situation.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has offered settlement and assured his leader of confidence in the negotiations. Rana Sanaullah, the acting member of the delegation, stated that the United Nations charter binds countries to refrain from using force or threats against another state.
