The United Nations has announced the launch of a $100 million food security project in Afghanistan, aimed at providing assistance to over 1,51,000 families over a two-year period. According to Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the project will not only cater to the immediate food needs of the population but also contribute to increasing food production in Afghanistan and revitalizing the private sector.
The project, which has been supported by the United Nations and the Asian Development Bank, is expected to provide critical relief to the people of Afghanistan, who have been grappling with food insecurity and poverty for years.
In other news, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary-General Sheikh Waqas Akram has been embroiled in a controversy after a purported audio message of his leaked to the media. Akram has been released from the Pakistan cricket team’s squad for the remaining two matches against Australia.
