Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Britain’s King Charles on Monday at Windsor Castle. “The King welcomed the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to Windsor Castle for lunch,” stated a press release issued by the royal family.
Details of the Meeting and Royal Support Reaffirmed
This marks their latest encounter, with their last meeting having taken place at Sandringham estate in March of this year. King Charles has consistently expressed his support for Zelensky, commending the “determination and strength” of the Ukrainian people in the face of Russia’s unprovoked aggression.
During his visit to the UK, the Ukrainian leader is also scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the speakers of both houses of parliament.
In March, Zelensky met King Charles at Sandringham after attending a summit of European leaders focused on ending the war in Ukraine. As the Ukrainian president arrived at the King’s Norfolk residence, local residents, some displaying Ukrainian flags, gathered outside the estate to witness his helicopter arrival.
Zelensky’s visit to London for talks on European defense followed a spirited exchange with US President Donald Trump at the White House. Royal sources described the Ukrainian president as being “warmly received,” with the meeting lasting just under an hour. The pair were served tea in Sandringham’s Saloon room.
