Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed concerns that the current security situation may not allow for elections. According to news agencies, the Ukrainian president has traveled to Florida to meet with US President Donald Trump, with whom he has released a recorded audio message. Zelensky has stated that before meeting Trump, he would first meet with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. He emphasized that Ukraine has its own red lines, but the path to reconciliation is also possible. However, the current security situation does not allow for elections. Strong security guarantees are required for elections, and US guarantees depend on what President Trump is willing to provide.
In his remarks, Zelensky also highlighted the need for additional defensive missiles to defend against Russian missile and drone attacks. He added that China seems unprepared to participate in the Russian-Ukrainian peace process. On the other hand, American media has confirmed that US President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky will meet on Monday.
