In a gathering celebrating the economic bond between overseas Pakistanis and their homeland, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Mohammad Faisal, hosted a dinner at the Pakistan House in London. The event was held in honor of a high-level delegation of bankers who are currently in the UK to attend the “Pakistan Remittance Summit 2025.”
The delegation, led by Dr. Inayat Hussain, Executive Director of the State Bank of Pakistan, includes Chairmen and CEOs of major commercial banks. Their visit to London and Manchester aims to strengthen ties with the community and streamline the flow of remittances.
Speaking to the audience, which included key members of the British-Pakistani community, Dr. Mohammad Faisal paid tribute to the diaspora. He highlighted that the UK hosts one of the largest and most generous Pakistani communities in the world, consistently ranking among the top three sources of remittances for the country.
Dr. Faisal emphasized that the significant rise in remittances is not just about money; it is a reflection of the deep patriotism and trust overseas Pakistanis have in their country’s systems. He noted that recent reforms and digital advancements have made sending money home easier than ever. Thanks to better coordination between the State Bank and financial institutions, Pakistan has now become one of the most cost-effective and fastest corridors for money transfers globally.
