Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has expressed concerns that Israel is planning to attack Iran, which could destabilize the region further. In an interview with Turkish state broadcaster TRT, Cavusoglu stated that indications suggest Israel is seeking an opportunity to strike Iran, and that the situation is being closely monitored.
Cavusoglu emphasized that Turkey hopes Israel will choose a different path, but acknowledged that Israel is, in fact, assessing the situation for a potential attack, particularly against Iran. He clarified that this assessment is more related to Israel than the United States.
During a recent visit to Tehran, Cavusoglu informed the Iranian leadership of Turkey’s concerns as a friendly nation. He stated that a friend can also offer harsh truths. Cavusoglu also pointed out that Israel is attempting to exploit the current situation in Iran, while also hindering the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
