Washington: President Donald Trump’s Inauguration Raises Questions Over Bible Use
Washington: During President Donald Trump’s recent inauguration, he did not place his hand on the Bible while taking the oath of office, sparking questions about whether this was a deliberate choice or an oversight. Critics have raised concerns about whether the traditional role of the Bible in the ceremony was intentionally bypassed.
While it is customary for newly elected presidents to place their hand on a Bible when taking the oath, it is not a legal requirement under U.S. law.
Article VI of the U.S. Constitution states: “All executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”
