Washington: In the United States, it is customary for the president to kiss his wife on the lips during the inaugural ceremony. However, this time, President Trump faced some challenges in carrying out this tradition. Melania Trump wore a navy blue hat designed by American designer Eric Javits, whose wide brim posed an obstacle during the kiss. President Trump mentioned the hat during his speech in Emancipation Hall after the ceremony, noting how Melania struggled to keep it in place due to the strong wind. Laughing, he remarked, “Melania was almost lifted off the ground, but she held onto the hat firmly.”
Melania Trump was dressed in a navy blue silk wool coat, a navy blue pencil skirt, and an ivory silk crepe blouse, all designed by Adam Lippes. In his statement, Lippes expressed that designing for Melania was one of the greatest honors of his career, and the outfit was crafted by some of America’s finest artisans. The ceremony was held indoors at the Capitol Rotunda for the first time in 40 years due to the cold weather in Washington, D.C.
