Donald Trump’s online store is currently selling merchandise emblazoned with “Trump 2028,” the year of the next US presidential election, despite the Republican being constitutionally barred from running for a third term.
The 78-year-old, whose approval ratings have recently plummeted to new lows in opinion polls, has not dismissed the possibility of serving a third term, even though it would necessitate amending the Constitution.
Most political experts, including his own former Attorney General, consider such an endeavor to be highly improbable.
Nevertheless, a social media account associated with Trump shared a photo on Thursday of his son Eric sporting one of the new red caps, priced at $50.
“Make a statement with this Made in America Trump 2028 hat,” reads a product description on the Trump Store website.
The store is also offering navy and red T-shirts, priced at $36, featuring the slogan “Trump 2028 (Rewrite the Rules),” along with matching beer can coolers for $18.
Opinion polls have indicated American concerns regarding Trump’s handling of key issues during the first 100 days of his potential second term, including living costs and volatile tariff policies.
The 22nd Amendment of the US Constitution explicitly states, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”
Trump, who previously served as president from 2017 to 2021, has maintained that he is “not joking” about a third term, suggesting last month that there are “methods” to make it happen.
Any serious attempt to amend the foundational document of the US would propel the country into uncharted territory.
Altering the US Constitution to permit a third presidential term would require a two-thirds majority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
The amendment would also need ratification by at least 38 of the 50 US state legislatures, another highly unlikely scenario.
Trump has cultivated an extensive array of branded products to promote his political career alongside his real estate empire.
These include Mother’s Day-inspired gifts such as pink pajamas and pickleball paddles bearing Trump logos.
Also available for purchase are earrings and necklaces styled with the numbers 45 and 47, representing Trump’s two presidential terms.
On Wednesday, Trump extended an invitation to a private dinner to the top 220 investors in his lucrative cryptocurrency, known as $TRUMP, according to a report by the New York Times.
In the past, the billionaire has marketed a diverse range of products, from steaks and “Trump University” courses to stock in his own media company, most notably the platform Truth Social.
He has also released the “God Bless the USA Bible,” priced at $59.99, in collaboration with American country singer Lee Greenwood
