U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday issued a stark warning to Iran, stating that it faces even more severe consequences unless it agrees to a deal with the United States and Israel, amidst rapidly escalating tensions in the Middle East.
In a post shared on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump claimed he had given Iran “chance after chance” to negotiate but asserted that Tehran “just couldn’t get it done.” He added that he had previously cautioned Iran that failure to act would lead to consequences “worse than anything they expected.”
“The United States makes the best and most lethal military equipment anywhere in the World—BY FAR—and Israel has a lot of it, with much more to come,” Trump stated. He continued, “Certain Iranian hardliners talked tough, but they’re all DEAD now. It will only get worse.”
This statement follows hours after a series of Israeli airstrikes struck multiple Iranian cities, including Tehran, Shiraz, and Tabriz. These strikes reportedly resulted in the deaths of senior military officials and at least six nuclear scientists, as confirmed by Iranian and international media. Iran has vowed retaliation and has already launched a barrage of over 100 drones into Israeli territory, further intensifying the conflict.
Trump’s remarks appeared to endorse the Israeli actions, framing them as part of a broader deterrence strategy. He warned that “the next planned attacks” could be even more devastating, characterizing the current situation as a “slaughter.”
“There is still time to make this slaughter… come to an end. Iran must make a deal before there is nothing left, and save what was once known as the Iranian Empire,” Trump wrote. “No more death, no more destruction. JUST DO IT, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.”
Trump, who is currently campaigning for a return to the White House in the 2024 elections, has consistently adopted a confrontational stance on Iran. During his presidency, he unilaterally withdrew the United States from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and imposed stringent sanctions on Tehran.
His latest comments come at a moment of extreme volatility in the region. Israeli officials maintain that the recent military operation was necessary to eliminate high-value Iranian targets linked to weapons development and regional militancy. Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has vowed “severe punishment” for what he termed a Zionist crime.
The United Nations and several regional powers, including Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, have called for restraint and warned against further escalation that could trigger a full-scale regional war.
