Washington: Former U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that if any American presidential candidate is harmed, the U.S. should respond by completely destroying Iran or one of its cities.
According to international media reports, Trump stated that if he were president and Iran threatened to harm a U.S. presidential candidate, he would respond with severe retaliation.
“I would tell Iran that if they harm any of our presidential candidates, we will obliterate their entire country or a major city,” Trump said.
Speaking at a campaign rally in North Carolina on Wednesday, Trump urged the current administration to take a similar hardline stance and deliver a stern warning to Iran.

It’s worth noting that U.S. intelligence recently warned Trump about an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate him and advised him to remain cautious.
In July, there were two assassination attempts on Trump in Pennsylvania and Florida, one of which left him injured. However, the possibility of Iranian involvement in both attacks was dismissed.
This escalation comes in the wake of Iran’s vow to target Trump following the U.S. missile strike in Baghdad that killed Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander General Qasem Soleimani during Trump’s presidency.
