President Trump thanked his wife, Melania, for enduring the challenging cold and windy weather, blending his tribute with humor.
Addressing the crowd at Emancipation Hall, Trump expressed his gratitude towards Melania for sticking by his side throughout the day. After the swearing-in ceremony, he joked about her discomfort from wearing high heels all day.
“I have an incredible first lady,” Trump said, “Her feet are absolutely aching from those heels.”
He also shared a funny moment when Melania asked how far they had to walk. “Darling, I love you, but my feet are killing me,” she said. Trump replied, “Oh, not far—just four or five hundred yards,” to which she quipped, “That’s five football fields.”
Trump also made light of the windy conditions as they approached the helicopter, saying, “The wind was blowing like crazy, and with the hat she was wearing, she almost blew away.”
His light-hearted comments brought smiles to the crowd.
