US President Donald Trump has adopted an unequivocal position on US policy in the Middle East, declaring that he will not permit any Israeli annexation of the occupied West Bank.
In a significant interview with Time Magazine, President Trump fully endorsed the stance of his Vice President, J.D. Vance, on the issue. He emphasized that US policy is firmly against Israeli annexation, citing a crucial reason: a “promise” he made to Arab nations.
“The occupied West Bank will not be annexed because I have promised the Arab countries,” Trump stated, drawing a clear red line.
He issued a direct warning to Israel, stating that if it pursues annexation, it will “lose America’s support.” The US President elaborated that such a unilateral move would not only impact US-Israel ties but would also severely damage relations between the United States and the broader Arab world.
During the same interview, President Trump also claimed that he was the one who stopped Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu from continuing the assault on Gaza. “I told Netanyahu, you cannot fight the whole world. Israel is a very small place,” he said.
