The U.S. President announced the cancellation of nearly 80 “extremely disruptive” executive actions from the previous administration.
Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump, as he began his term, continued issuing executive orders aimed at reversing current policies on immigration, the environment, and diversity. These orders were intended to undo key policies of President Joe Biden’s administration, particularly regarding climate change and immigration. Trump stated that he was canceling about 80 “extremely disruptive, extreme executive actions.”
Some of the orders signed by Trump included halting federal government hiring, imposing a ban on asylum requests for new arrivals at the southern border, and eliminating all federal DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) programs.
Federal Workforce and Immigration
The president ordered a halt to federal government hiring, except for military or positions related to “immigration enforcement, national security, or public safety.” He also directed the reinstatement of “Schedule F” employees, who would have fewer protections compared to career civil servants.
He also instructed a ban on asylum requests for individuals arriving at the southern border.
Gender, Diversity, and Tariffs
Trump ordered the elimination of all federal DEI programs, the recognition of only men and women as genders, and the removal of protections for transgender individuals in federal prisons.
He also directed an investigation into unfair trade practices and currency manipulation, and instructed a review of immigration and drug flows from Canada, China, and Mexico.
Energy and TikTok
Trump ordered the United States to withdraw from the Paris Agreement under the framework of reducing environmental protections for Americans. Additionally, he directed agencies to consult on national security threats related to TikTok and called for measures to secure the platform.
Reversal of Biden’s Policies
Trump’s actions focused on reversing Biden’s key policies, including immigration reforms, environmental measures, and social diversity programs, marking a sharp shift from the previous administration’s approach.
