The British media has reported that the United States’ President Donald Trump has ordered the military chief to plan an invasion of Greenland. However, senior American military officials are against the plan, and President Trump is shifting his attention to relatively less contentious issues, including the Russian phantom aircraft in the oceans or an attack on Iran. According to the British newspaper, President Trump has ordered the Joint Special Operations Command to prepare the plan for the invasion. However, the Joint Chiefs of Staff are opposing the plan, considering it to be illegal and that Congress will not support it. The newspaper reported that several officials, including White House Adviser Stephen Miller, want to invade Greenland.
The report claims that officials like Stephen Miller are inspired by the successful operation against Venezuela. It is alleged that President Trump wants to divert attention from the economic situation in the United States, with the aim of shifting the focus of voters before the mid-term elections to Greenland. The report also suggests that if President Trump invades Greenland, it will create a clear rift with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and could lead to the collapse of NATO.
Some European officials are concerned that a close circle of Trump’s advisors, including Mike Pence, who supports a second term for the President, want to invade Greenland so that European countries will be forced to leave NATO. If Trump were to leave NATO, it would be the easiest way to do so. There is also a possibility that Denmark might be willing to give the United States complete military access to Greenland and block Chinese and Russian access.
The report claims that the United States has a window of time to act before the November elections, with the NATO summit scheduled for July 7. Some generals have reportedly expressed their opinion that dealing with Trump is like dealing with a five-year-old child.
Meanwhile, the Iranian president has accused the United States and Israel of being responsible for the riots in Iran. In response to Trump’s comments on Cuba, the Cuban president said that Cuba is a free and independent country.
The Iranian parliament’s speaker has warned that the United States’ actions are a threat to regional and global security. In a post on social media, an Iranian user claimed that Cuban President-elect Marco Rubio would be the next president, to which Trump replied “I like it.”
