HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The triple digits have taken over the forecast in SE Texas. We are expecting highs to top out just over 100 this afternoon. Heat index values are expected to exceed 108. A Heat Advisory is in effect for most of Southeast Texas from Tuesday through Wednesday.
Take necessary precautions if you do work outdoors by staying hydrating and taking breaks indoors or in the shade.
A Fire Weather Warning is also in effect for a few cities north of Houston.
What do our rain chances look like this week?
Unfortunately they are looking slim to none. High pressure remains overhead which causes air to sink instead of rise. This should hinder our chances for rain. A disturbance rotating around the high should pump up our moisture Friday and Saturday, but even then it’s only a 20% chance you’ll get rain.
How hot are these temps getting?
Temperatures look to top out at or over 100 degrees and challenge record highs well into next week. Heat Advisories are likely to persist as well. Make sure you take the necessary heat precautions this week.
Is there anything worth watching in the tropics?
A Saharan dust cloud is currently moving out of SE Texas which should improve your allergies or asthma symptoms if you have noticed a flare up in the last couple of days. For the very latest check out our daily tropical update.
