On Saturday, tribal elders in North Waziristan declared their full support for the Pakistan Army in its campaign against Indian-backed Fitna-al-Khawarij.
This declaration of solidarity was made during a jirga of tribal elders held in Miranshah, North Waziristan, with the backing of the Pakistan Army, as reported by Geo News. The elders wholeheartedly endorsed the Pakistan Army’s zero-tolerance stance on establishing peace and eradicating Fitna-al-Khawarij.
Participants lauded the security forces and martyrs for their immense sacrifices, vowing to cooperate fully with the authorities in countering Fitna-al-Khawarij and other militant groups.
Meanwhile, at a separate jirga held at the CM House, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur stated that the purpose of the gathering was to consult with tribal representatives on the restoration of peace.
The chief minister announced that a 20-member jirga from the merged districts would formulate a comprehensive plan for peace restoration, which would then be presented to the government and military leadership.
Since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021, Pakistan has experienced a surge in terrorist attacks, primarily targeting law enforcement and security forces, particularly in the border provinces of KP and Balochistan.
According to data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), a prominent think tank, the country saw a sharp increase in terror attacks in January 2025, rising by 42% compared to the preceding month.
