A probe report has been released regarding the tragic incident at a private university in Lahore where a student took their own life on December 19. According to the report, the student jumped from the third floor of the pharmacy building, and their attendance was satisfactory in all subjects except one. The report states that the student’s attendance was lower in the morning due to the scheduled exam, and the student was suffering from severe mental stress and psychological issues.
This incident occurred at the same university where a student, Muhammad Awais, took his own life by jumping from the fourth floor a few weeks ago. The probe report revealed that the student had never received any psychological treatment for their issues.
The report also states that the student took the leap themselves, and a CCTV footage and eyewitnesses confirmed the same. The injured student was immediately taken to the Lahore General Hospital, but unfortunately, they did not survive.
In response to the incident, the probe report suggests that the provincial government and the Higher Education Commission should establish a psychology center in every university. The center should have experienced professors and teachers who can provide awareness to students about mental stress and pressure.
