A tragic road accident on the Hazara Motorway claimed the lives of five members of the same family on Tuesday when their car was hit by a trailer near the Shah Maqsood Interchange.
According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, the accident occurred after a speeding trailer rammed into a Toyota Corolla from behind, forcing it to collide with another trailer ahead. The impact was so severe that all five passengers—three men and two women—died on the spot.
Victims Traveling from Gilgit to Islamabad
The victims were identified as 39-year-old Raza Saleem, a resident of Gilgit, along with his family members. They were traveling towards Rawalpindi when the incident took place. Rescue 1122 teams and Motorway Police arrived at the scene shortly after the accident. The bodies were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Havelian for medico-legal formalities.
Motorway Police stated that the collision was caused by the negligence of the trailer driver, who was reportedly driving at a high speed. Officials have urged drivers of heavy vehicles to exercise caution to prevent further tragedies on the busy route.
