RAWALPINDI: Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan and Chief Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal on Wednesday visited Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and reviewed security and traffic arrangements for Pakistan-Australia cricket series.
In addition to 4,500 police personnel, four companies of Army, two companies of Rangers and 350 traffic police personnel will be deployed to ensure foolproof security and smooth flow of traffic during the match.
Besides, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ashfaq Ahmad Khan, City Police Officer (CPO) and SSP Operation Wasim Riaz also accompanied the Punjab police chief during the visit.
The Punjab IGP directed the police to ensure foolproof security for the cricket series being played in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
“Security of players, match officials and cricket fans should be top priority,” the IGP said.
An effective traffic management plan should be formulated for the convenience of citizens and uninterrupted flow of traffic, said the Punjab IG.
IG Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan and Chief Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal also chaired a high level meeting to reviewed arrangements for the cricket series.
The IG said that the supervisory officers should regularly and monitor the security and traffic arrangements and also give effective briefing to the personnel on security duty so that they can perform their duties efficiently.
Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that holding of international cricket matches in Pakistan was very welcoming step and Punjab police will ensure best security arrangements.
During the meeting, RPO Rawalpindi Ashfaq Ahmad Khan and CPO Rawalpindi Omar Saeed Malik briefed the IG and chief secretary about security arrangements for the matches.
The Punjab IG directed the senior police officials to coordinate with the agencies concerned during the teams movement and entry and exit of spectators in the stadium.
On the occasion, CPO Omar Saeed Malik informed the meeting that 4,500 personnel are being deployed for security and traffic arrangements at the stadium and routes. He briefed the meeting that police teams are working diligently for security and guidance of citizens.
