HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A well-known TikTok personality woke to discover that his truck and bass fishing boat had been stolen from his brother’s driveway in Tomball on Thursday morning.
Garrett Walters, who boasts over 360,000 followers on TikTok for his bass fishing adventures, had driven with his girlfriend Lauren from Alabama to the Houston area, arriving around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. They parked their truck and boat in his brother’s driveway in the Amira neighborhood near the Grand Parkway and Mueschke before settling in for the night.
“At around 5 or 5:45 this morning, my girlfriend woke me up and said, ‘You need to come out here. It’s the boat and truck,'” Walters recounted. “I thought maybe someone had broken in and taken something.”
Upon inspection, all that remained were tire marks.
Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office reported pursuing the stolen truck and boat.
“That’s my boat and truck, and it’s pretty recognizable on social media,” Walters commented. “So I’m thinking people are like, ‘What did you get yourself into?'”
Authorities tracked the suspects south on US-290 to IH-610, then onto the Katy Freeway eastbound, followed by I-45 north, and eventually onto IH-610 east and IH-59 north, where the pursuit ended near Porter in Montgomery County.
According to dispatch audio, the suspects drove against traffic near the Eastex Freeway and Will Clayton Parkway. Law enforcement deployed spike strips in Humble in an attempt to stop them, but the suspects continued driving.
“We’re at 80, still going the wrong way. Just myself and King-11,” an officer reported in the audio. Speeds reportedly reached up to 110 miles per hour.
Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman tweeted that one suspect was apprehended after both abandoned the vehicle near Porter.
Although Walters recovered his truck and boat, he noted they sustained significant damage. The suspects also filled his diesel truck with gasoline.
Currently, Walters is focused on finding a place to continue his fishing while in town.
