Tora Bora Valley, Khyber District – In a significant development, the residents of the Tora Bora Valley in Khyber District have begun their relocation to safer areas, following reports of an imminent military operation in the region. According to official sources, the government has initiated a relocation program for the residents of the valley, providing them with an initial financial assistance of PKR 300,000 per family to aid their relocation.
In addition to the financial assistance, each family will also receive a monthly stipend of PKR 500,000 to facilitate their transition to a new place of residence. The district administration has set up a registration center for the families willing to relocate, and over 1,042 families have already registered for the program in the past four days.
The registration process and subsequent relocation efforts are expected to continue until January 25. After that, the authorities plan to initiate the process of returning the affected families to their homes and restoring their properties, which is scheduled to begin on April 5.
The Tora Bora Valley is home to approximately 130,000 residents, who are feared to be caught in the crossfire of an impending military operation. Meanwhile, a lady constable has been suspended and a case has been registered against her at the Women Police Station, following allegations of her involvement in certain irregularities, including laying the foundation stone for various development projects in the Old City Area.
The People’s Chorangi road leading to the Quaid-e-Azam’s Mausoleum and the road from Khudadad Colony are currently closed. Pakistan has also emphasized the need for continuous support and assistance to Somalia in terms of stability and security. The Chairman of PTI, Barrister Gohar, said that today marks the last day of Chief Minister KP Saeed Afridi’s visit to Sindh.
